3 Signs That Limiting Beliefs Hold You Back From Getting What You Want

Limiting beliefs is such a widely heard topic. You probably have heard about it a lot, but have you really faced and solved your limiting beliefs?

Do you realize how dramatically you can change your life if you bring them into awareness and decide to replace them with positive beliefs?

Limiting beliefs hold people back in many areas of their lives — business, career, finances, relationships, personal growth, fitness, healthy habits, etc.

And that is because everything starts from thoughts. If you want to get up early and go for a run, it begins with a thought. If you want to find a soulmate, it starts with a thought. If you want to make more money, it starts with a thought. If you want to build a business, it begins with a thought.

The question is, what thoughts are you thinking concerning that where you desire your breakthrough?

First, there is a thought, then an emotion/feeling, then you verbalize it, and then you take action. Actions you repeat become habits. Habits become your lifestyle that brings positive or negative results.

Trying to change things only on a behavioral level does not work because 95% of our actions, habits, words we say, and attitudes are subconscious.

So, let’s take a straightforward example. Let’s you are trying to become more confident. You read advice to use affirmations, such as, “I am confident!” You even start to step more out of your comfort zone, trying out new things.

However, something doesn’t work out as planned, or you get criticized, and you don’t feel confident anymore. Using the affirmation, “I am confident” feels fake.

What actually triggers you is a limiting belief about yourself related to a negative past experience or emotional trauma. You react the same way because of a belief you hold about yourself,

“I am not good enough,” “I am not valuable enough,” “I can’t seem to get myself together.”

Or let’s take significant life and career changes.

Let’s say you’d want to build a business. So you quit your job or transition to a part-time job so you can work on building your business. You research business ideas and find one you like. You even start social media page or build a website.

However, soon you find yourself procrastinating, being stuck in the analysis-paralysis mode, and even researching other business ideas.

Yes, it is possible that this wasn’t the real idea and you need to find another one. However, more often, it is a problem of having limiting beliefs that sabotage you and hold you back from taking action

Such as,

“I’m not good enough,” “What if I fail?”, “I need to be perfect at this before I can show it off to the audience,” etc.

Insanity is doing the same thing all over again. And if you think the same things all over again, you will do the same things all over again. So you need to change the way you think.

Here are three signs that limiting beliefs are holding you back and you need to do something about it.

Sign #1 — Similar negative situations repeat in your life again and again.

And you ask yourself, “Why does this always happen to me?”

It can be so frustrating, especially if you have been working on yourself already to do something differently.

This often happens with relationships that you keep attracting the same type of people who soon turn out to be toxic, and relationships are energy-draining.

In reality, you have limiting beliefs, such as, “I am not good enough,” “There are no good men/women out there.”

Such relationship issues most of the time are also the result of the most common limiting belief, “I am not good enough.”

The truth is that you are good enough, but if you don’t believe that yourself, you will attract people that are less than what you deserve.

You get what you believe in your subconscious mind that you deserve.

So you need to change your standards about what type of people you allow in your life, but before that, you need to change your limiting belief and find out why you have felt “not good enough.”

A similar thing can happen with finances — perhaps you always end up with debt, or your bank account always drops to zero, no matter how much you start earning.

The same can happen with jobs, colleagues you form friendships with, opportunities you get or don’t get, etc.

Wherever you see a similar pattern repeating and you don’t like it, the problem will change when you find and change your limiting beliefs around it.

Sign #2 — Stuck in a certain place in life.

“Why can’t I get further?”

Perhaps you have a dream of your own business and turning your hobby into a freelance career instead of being stuck in 9–5.

Perhaps you want to get to the next level in your life in your fitness goals, productivity goals, business, your paid-for-performance job (such as sales), but nothing seems to be working. You keep hitting the wall again and again.

Again it comes down to not what you want and desire or think you deserve but to what your subconscious mind expects and thinks you desire — what standards and beliefs you have about what is possible for you.

Most likely, you have a negative belief about yourself if you can start a business and succeed in it. Or you don’t really believe that you can double, triple your sales results or reach the next milestone in your fitness results.

These limiting beliefs blocking you are connected with the way you see yourself.

So you need to change the way you see yourself. You need to start seeing yourself as the type of person who achieves what you desire and gets that breakthrough you long for.

Sign #3 — You can’t seem to get what you want.

“Why can’t I get what I want?”

You want to reach a financial goal, earn a certain amount of money, attract a soulmate, get a breakthrough, change your habits, attract a dream job, etc., but it seems like the more you try, the less attainable it feels.

This is because you have inner beliefs — limiting beliefs that keep repelling what you want.

For example, you want to earn more money and even find reasonable ways to make more. But your financial situation does not improve, you don’t get results, or you’re still stuck at the same level.

These beliefs can be as simple as,

“I don’t think such lifestyle, income level is possible for me because I have never earned it” or “I don’t think I can be successful at this.”

You consciously might be thinking differently, but your subconscious mind is still running the show.

And many people try hard consciously — hustle hard, put in a lot of hours, try everything they can think of. But trying harder makes what they desire only harder to attain.

The reason for that is because they don’t feel good enough and worthy of achieving it. They think they need to prove their worth by trying harder. That only emphasizes the energetic vibration that they are not good enough for it.

Shifting the identity to start to feel like the type of person worthy of that and for whom it is normal to get what you desire is the solution.
